NEN 3140 §4.3
Installation Responsible
Installatieverantwoordelijke (IV)
Also known as: iv
Person appointed in writing by the employer who bears final responsibility for the safe operation of an electrical installation. Appoints VPs and VOPs and sets work procedures. Grants permission for work at the request of the WV and is the only one who authorises re-energising.
Practical example
In a commercial building, the IV appoints a VP in writing to replace a circuit breaker in the distribution board, including the procedure to follow.
Common mistake
Not appointing an IV and leaving the role implicitly with the site manager — without a written appointment nobody is demonstrably responsible in an incident.
