Live working (WOS)
An electrotechnical or non-electrotechnical activity involving electrical hazard where a person can touch live parts, performed on an installation that has not been made dead. Under the Working Conditions Decree art. 3.5(5) and NEN 3140 §6.3, permitted only where a demonstrated compelling necessity exists, an explicit instruction has been given by a Skilled Person, and the installation is suitable for live working.
Bij een ziekenhuis mag de hoofdverdeling niet spanningsloos worden gemaakt vanwege kritische apparatuur; het meten aan de rail gebeurt daarom als WOS-handeling met geïsoleerd gereedschap en een tweede persoon als toezichthouder.
WOS toepassen uit gemak omdat spanningsloos maken 'te veel tijd kost' — de norm stelt expliciet dat werken onder spanning bijna altijd een overtreding van het Arbobesluit is tenzij de noodzaak is aangetoond.
