RCD test (trip time)

RCD-test (uitschakeltijd)
Also known as: rcd-test, aardlek-test, testknop, maandelijkse-test

Verifies RCD tripping at 1×In ≤300 ms and 5×In ≤40 ms. Also perform a zero-current test (½×In — must not trip) and, if specified, a fault test.

Practical example

RCD test (trip time): A 30 mA RCD tested at 150 mA (5×IΔn) must trip within 40 ms; at 30 mA (1×IΔn), 300 ms is the norm.

Common mistake

RCD test (trip time) Common mistake: Pressing only the device's test button and considering it a full RCD test — this checks only the mechanism, not the actual trip time at the rated residual current.
