Prospective short-circuit current

Prospective short-circuit current (Ik). The current that would flow at a dead short at the measured point. Determines whether the switching equipment has the breaking capacity to safely interrupt that current — typically 6 kA for final circuits, 10–25 kA in distribution boards.
