Megohmmeter (insulation tester)
Megohmmeter (isolatietester)
A measuring instrument that applies a DC test voltage (typically selectable as 250 V, 500 V or 1000 V) to a circuit and reads the insulation resistance in MΩ — a higher test voltage is used for circuits with a higher rated voltage. 250 V is used for SELV/PELV, 500 V for circuits up to 500 V, and 1000 V above that.
Practical example
Voor het opleveren van een nieuwe groepenkast meet de installateur met een megohmmeter op 500 V elke groep tussen fase/neutraal en PE, en noteert de waarden op het opleveringsrapport.
Common mistake
Isolatieweerstand meten terwijl gevoelige elektronica (bv. dimmers, smart-meters) nog is aangesloten — de testspanning kan deze componenten beschadigen; eerst loskoppelen.
