Local isolator (appliance disconnector)
A manually operated disconnecting device installed close to a fixed appliance (e.g. an air-handling unit, heat pump, or kitchen equipment) so that maintenance staff can isolate and lock off the appliance locally without returning to the distribution board. NEN 1010 §537.3.2 requires the local isolator to clearly indicate its switch position and, if not directly visible from the appliance, to be lockable in the off position.
Bij een dakopstelling met een luchtbehandelingskast plaatst de installateur een werkschakelaar direct naast de toegangsdeur van de kast, zodat onderhoudsmonteurs deze lokaal kunnen vergrendelen voordat ze het toestel openen.
Alleen de groep in de verdeelinrichting uitschakelen voor onderhoud aan een op afstand geplaatst toestel, zonder een lokale werkschakelaar te vergrendelen — een collega kan de groep elders onbedoeld weer inschakelen terwijl er nog aan het toestel wordt gewerkt.
