Foundation earth electrode / ring earth electrode
An earth electrode installed as a galvanised or stainless-steel strip or wire cast into a building's foundation (foundation earth electrode) or laid in the ground around the building (ring earth electrode), serving as the main earthing electrode for the entire installation. It typically provides a lower and more stable earth resistance than separate earth rods, especially in dry or poorly conductive soil.
Bij nieuwbouw wordt vóór het storten van de fundering een verzinkte staalstrip als funderingsaarder aangebracht, met opsteekpunten die later worden aangesloten op de hoofdaardrail.
Bij renovatie de bestaande funderingsaarder vergeten te controleren op doorgaande verbinding voordat nieuwe installatiedelen erop worden aangesloten — corrosie of een onderbroken verbinding in de fundering is niet zichtbaar zonder meting.
