Bathroom zoning (wet room zones)
Zone-indeling natte ruimte (badkamer)
Division of a room with a bath or shower into zones 0, 1, 2 (and the rest of the room) per NEN 1010 §701, each with its own requirements. Zone 0 (inside the bath/shower tray): SELV/PELV only, max. 12 V AC, IPX7. Zone 1 (up to 2.25 m above the tray): no ordinary switches or socket-outlets. Zone 2 (60 cm around zone 1): only splash-proof (min. IP44) socket-outlets behind a 30 mA RCD.
Practical example
Bij het ontwerpen van een badkamer wordt het scheerstopcontact net buiten zone 2 geplaatst en aangesloten op een 30 mA-aardlekschakelaar, conform de zone-indeling van §701.
Common mistake
Een gewoon (niet spatwaterdicht) stopcontact in zone 2 monteren omdat 'het toch niet direct nat wordt' — §701 eist daar minimaal IP44, ongeacht de inschatting van de installateur.
