XMVK underground cable
XMVK-kabel (grondkabel)
Also known as: xmvk, grondkabel, buried-cable, xlpe-cable, aardkabel
Cable with cross-linked polyethylene insulation (XPE/XLPE) and PVC sheath, suitable for direct burial (min. 70 cm depth in normal ground, 100 cm under roads). Color-coded cores; recommended over traditional NYY in aggressive soil due to better water and chemical resistance.
Practical example
XMVK cable (underground cable): For underground supply to a garden shed, XMVK is laid at 70 cm depth, with a sand bed, cable plate, and warning tape above.
Common mistake
XMVK cable (underground): Laying XMVK without sand bed, cable plate & warning tape; excavation damages cable without warning contractor.
