VOB/VD single-core installation wire
A single-core, PVC-insulated installation wire, either solid (VOB) or flexible (VD), without its own outer sheath, intended solely for use inside an enclosed system such as conduit, cable trunking, or a switchboard — never run freely or buried directly. VOB (solid core) is widely used in fixed wiring behind sockets and switches; VD (fine-stranded, flexible) is used inside switchboards and wherever bending or vibration occurs.
In een nieuwbouwwoning wordt VOB 2,5 mm² gebruikt voor de vaste bedrading in installatiebuizen naar de wandcontactdozen, terwijl in de groepenkast zelf flexibele VD-draad wordt gebruikt voor de interne bedrading naar de aardlekautomaten.
VOB-installatiedraad rechtstreeks (zonder buis of goot) tegen een wand bevestigen of buiten leggen — VOB heeft geen mechanische of UV-bescherming en mag uitsluitend binnen een gesloten leidingsysteem worden toegepast.
