Wire end ferrule
Aderendhuls (ferrule)
Also known as: aderendhuls, ferrule, wire-ferrule, einderhuls
Crimped metal ferrule (copper/tin) bundling flexible strand wires for secure insertion into screw or push-in terminals. Color-coded by cross-section. Mandatory for class 5/6 conductors in industrial terminal blocks and frequency converters.
Practical example
Ferrule (crimp sleeve): When connecting a flexible 1.5 mm² cable to a frequency converter terminal block, a suitable ferrule is crimped onto the wire before tightening.
Common mistake
Ferrule. Common mistake: Using a ferrule that is too large or small — poor fit causes cold solder joints or contact surface loosening.
