DIN-rail (symmetrische montagerail)
A standardised (NEN-EN 60715) 35 mm wide metal top-hat rail on which circuit breakers, RCDs, terminal blocks, and other modular components are snap-mounted inside a distribution board. The dimensions are standardised so that components from different manufacturers are interchangeable on the same rail.
Practical example
In de groepenkast worden alle installatieautomaten en de hoofdschakelaar op één doorlopende DIN-rail geklikt, zodat ze eenvoudig te vervangen of uit te breiden zijn.
Common mistake
Componenten met klemschroeven te los op de DIN-rail laten zitten zonder eindsteun of eindklem — bij trilling of warmteontwikkeling kunnen ze langs de rail verschuiven en onderlinge kortsluiting of loskomen van bedrading veroorzaken.
