ATEX Cable Gland (Ex d / Ex e)
A certified cable entry device for use in hazardous areas, matching the protection concept of the enclosure it is fitted to. An Ex d gland (flameproof enclosure) must prevent flame transmission to the surrounding atmosphere should an internal explosion occur, requiring a precisely dimensioned, flame-quenching seal around the cable sheath. An Ex e gland (increased safety) has no flame-quenching function but must still provide reliable strain relief and ingress protection against dust/moisture. The two types are not interchangeable.
