Cable joint (splice)
Kabelmof (moflasverbinding)
A factory-made or on-site fitted connection that joins two cable ends electrically, mechanically and water-tight, preserving the insulation and earthing properties of the original cable. For underground cables it must be executed per NEN-EN-IEC 60502 and rated for the same short-circuit current as the cable itself.
Practical example
Na een graafschade wordt het beschadigde stuk grondkabel verwijderd en worden de twee resterende uiteinden met twee krimpmoffen weer waterdicht met elkaar verbonden.
Common mistake
Een mof zonder de juiste krimp- of gietharsafwerking toepassen — vochtindringing in de mof leidt op termijn tot doorslag en een onverklaarbare aardfout.
