IP rating
IP-rating
Also known as: ip20, ip21, ip22, ip23, ip30, ip40, ip41, ip42, ip43, ip44, ip54, ip55, ip65, ip66, ip67, ip68, ip69k, protection-degree, natte-ruimte, zone-0, ip-ratings, zwembad, zwembad-zones, swimming-pool, pool-zone, wet-room, buitenkast, outdoor-enclosure, straalwaterdicht, waterstralen, zwembadzone, spa-zone
IP code indicates protection against solid objects (X=0..6) and water (Y=0..9). IP44 in damp indoor areas, IP65/67 outdoors and industrial washrooms, IP68 underwater.
Practical example
IP rating: An outdoor socket on a terrace requires at least IP44, while a car wash needs IP65 or higher due to water jets.
Common mistake
IP-rating: Using an IP44 luminaire in a room cleaned with a pressure washer — the water pressure exceeds the enclosure's protection rating.
