Changeover-time class (safety/standby power)
Classification under NEN-EN 1838/NEN 1010 §560 of the maximum interruption time between loss of the normal supply and availability of the safety/standby supply: no-break (< 0.5 s, from a UPS/battery), short break (≤ 0.5 s), medium break (≤ 15 s, typical for a standby generator), or long break (> 15 s). Determines which type of standby power system (UPS, battery bank or generator) is mandatory for a specific application such as escape-route lighting, lifts for people with disabilities, or medical locations.
Voor de vluchtwegverlichting in een theaterzaal wordt een no-break-klasse geëist (accu geïntegreerd in elk armatuur), terwijl de noodstroomvoorziening voor de toneelmachinerie in dezelfde zaal met een middellange onderbreking via een aggregaat mag worden uitgevoerd.
Voor vluchtwegverlichting een noodstroomaggregaat als enige voorziening toepassen zonder overbruggingsaccu — een aggregaat heeft altijd een opstarttijd van enkele seconden, wat niet voldoet aan de no-break of korte-onderbrekingsklasse die voor vluchtwegverlichting is vereist.
