Automatic Self-Test Emergency Lighting System (Addressable)

A system under NEN-EN 62034 in which each individual emergency luminaire (or a central test system controlling the luminaires) automatically and periodically performs the function test (a brief functional check) and the duration test (a full discharge of the battery over the rated autonomy time, typically 1 or 3 hours), without requiring manual intervention. Each luminaire is given a unique address within the system, so that faults (for example a defective lamp/LED module, a worn battery no longer achieving the required autonomy time, or a communication fault) are reported per individual luminaire via a central panel, display or building management system, rather than an inspector having to manually test and read each luminaire individually. This replaces the traditional manual NEN 3140-style periodic check with continuous, documented monitoring, greatly reducing the risk that a failing luminaire goes unnoticed until an actual power outage occurs, while the log the system automatically keeps also serves as evidence of compliance during an inspection or audit.
