Earthing Clamp Tightening Torque (Bolted Connection)

The manufacturer-specified force (in Nm) with which a bolted or screwed connection of an earthing clamp, main earthing bar or cable lug must be tightened to guarantee lasting, sufficient contact pressure. Too loose causes high transition resistance and heat build-up during fault current; too tight can damage the conductor or housing.
Practical example
Bij het monteren van de hoofdaardrail gebruikt de monteur een momentsleutel ingesteld op de door de fabrikant opgegeven 6 Nm, in plaats van de klem 'op gevoel' vast te draaien.
Common mistake
Aardklemmen alleen handvast aandraaien en niet naverifiëren met een momentsleutel — na verloop van tijd (trillingen, thermische cycli) kan de verbinding verder loslopen zonder dat dit visueel opvalt.
