§740 — Horticultural Enterprises and Greenhouses
Special room with elevated risks: moisture, mechanical damage, fire hazard during CO₂ fertilization and assimilation lighting.
Requirements
- Minimum IP55 for switching and distribution equipment in the greenhouse itself (§740.512).
- IP67 in areas where regular spraying or sweeping takes place.
- 30 mA residual current device (RCD) on all final circuits for portable equipment.
- Separate 300 mA RCD for fire protection on circuits for lighting > 32 A.
- Main equipotential bonding on metal gutters, walkways, and CO₂ pipes.
Practice in Westland greenhouses
- Assimilation luminaires (HPS 600/1000 W or LED): keep in mind that HF interference can blind RCD type A — type F or B is recommended.
- Pt1000 sensors for climate control: see Practical → Pt1000 3-wire connection.
- Many inverters on one RCD → cumulative leakage current check mandatory.
- Priva, Hoogendoorn, Hortimax — note proprietary connectors, but the 1010 requirements apply in full.
