Escape route lighting / emergency lighting
Vluchtwegverlichting / noodverlichting
Lighting that automatically illuminates escape routes when the normal supply fails. NEN 1010 §560 governs the technical connection (dedicated circuit, independent supply or battery), while NEN-EN 1838 sets the photometric requirements: at least 1 lux on the escape-route axis, 50% of light output within 5 seconds and full output within 60 seconds.
Practical example
In een kantoorpand wordt de vluchtwegverlichting boven elke nooduitgang gevoed vanuit een centrale accubank, zodat deze bij een stroomstoring nog minimaal een uur blijft branden.
Common mistake
Vluchtwegverlichting op dezelfde groep aansluiten als de normale verlichting — valt de groep uit door een storing, dan valt ook de noodverlichting uit op het moment dat hij nodig is.
