Fixed Electric Floor Heating — Embedding Requirements
The specific installation requirements under NEN 1010 §753 (based on IEC 60364-7-753) for electric heating systems fixed within the floor or ceiling construction, such as heating cables or mats embedded in a screed. Each heating circuit must be protected by an RCD with a rated residual current of at most 30 mA, because damage to the heating cable during or after pouring the screed is not always immediately visible and could otherwise lead to an unnoticed, prolonged touch hazard. Before the floor finish is applied, the insulation resistance of each heating circuit must be measured and the result recorded in writing (together with photo or drawing documentation of the exact cable layout), so that the risk of damage to the heating cables can be assessed for future drilling or milling work in the floor. Any metal reinforcement or metal mesh in the screed above the heating circuit must also be included in the room's equipotential bonding, to prevent a fault in the heating cable from causing a hazardous voltage on that reinforcement.

Na installatie van vloerverwarmingskabels direct de dekvloer laten storten zonder eerst de isolatieweerstandsmeting uit te voeren en te documenteren — een tijdens transport of installatie beschadigde kabel wordt dan pas na het uitharden van de vloer ontdekt, wanneer herstel vrijwel onmogelijk is.
