Stop category 0/1/2 (emergency stop function)
Classification from NEN-EN-IEC 60204-1 §9.2.2 for machine stopping functions. Category 0: immediate removal of power to the machine actuators (uncontrolled stop) — mandatory for emergency stop in case of immediate danger. Category 1: a controlled stop with power maintained to the actuators during braking, removed only once the stop is achieved — also permitted for emergency stop. Category 2: a controlled stop with power to the actuators maintained — not suitable for emergency stop functions, but usable for normal operational stops.
Bij de noodstopknop van een zware roterende centrifuge is stopcategorie 1 gekozen, zodat de motor gecontroleerd wordt afgeremd voordat de voeding wordt weggenomen — dit voorkomt gevaarlijk naslingeren.
Stopcategorie 2 toepassen op een noodstopfunctie — omdat de aandrijving hierbij onder spanning blijft, voldoet dit niet aan de eis dat een noodstop de energietoevoer moet onderbreken.
