Euroclass reaction-to-fire for cables (Cca, B2ca, Eca)
The official classification system under the EU Construction Products Regulation (CPR) that rates the fire behaviour of fixed cables based on heat release, flame spread, smoke production, flaming droplets and acidity of the smoke gases. Classes range from Aca (non-combustible) through B1ca, B2ca, Cca, Dca, Eca to Fca (no performance determined); additional letters (s1/s2/s3 for smoke, d0/d1/d2 for droplets, a1/a2/a3 for acidity) further refine the class. Unlike LSZH (which specifically concerns halogen-free/low-smoke properties), the Euroclass is a mandatory CE-marked rating based on standardised fire tests and determines which cable is legally permitted depending on the building's fire risk (e.g. escape routes often require at least Cca-s1,d1,a1).
Voor de bekabeling van een vluchttrappenhuis in een kantoorgebouw schrijft de brandveiligheidsadviseur minimaal Euroklasse Cca-s1,d1,a1 voor in plaats van standaard PVC-kabel.
LSZH-kabel en Euroklasse Cca/B2ca door elkaar gebruiken als synoniemen — een kabel kan halogeenvrij zijn zonder de vereiste CPR-Euroklasse te halen, en omgekeerd; de CE-markering met Euroklasse is de wettelijk bindende eis, LSZH op zich is dat niet.
