Anti-Islanding Protection (PV Inverter)
A protective function in a grid-connected PV inverter that detects when the public grid disappears (e.g. due to maintenance or a fault) and disconnects the inverter within a standardised time, so that the installation does not keep uncontrolled feeding into an isolated ("islanded") section of the grid. Without this protection, a grid operator carrying out work could encounter a section of the network still energised by local PV generation, creating a life-threatening situation for personnel.
