Four-Pole Switching of the Neutral (TT/IT Systems)
Vierpolige schakeling van de nulleider (TT/IT-stelsel)
The requirement that a switching or protective device (e.g. main switch or RCD) in a TT or IT system also switches the neutral conductor (N), in addition to the three phases — i.e. four-pole instead of three- or two-pole. This prevents the neutral from remaining live toward parts assumed to be de-energised if the PE is interrupted.
Practical example
In een TT-installatie met een aparte aardelektrode wordt de hoofdschakelaar viercpolig uitgevoerd, zodat bij het spanningsvrij maken van de installatie ook de nulleider daadwerkelijk wordt onderbroken.
Common mistake
In een TT-stelsel een driepolige hoofdschakelaar toepassen 'omdat dat bij TN-S ook mag' — bij TT is de nulleider géén betrouwbare referentie naar aarde en moet deze wél meegeschakeld worden.
