Cable Shield/Braid EMC Earthing
The metallic braid or foil shield of a shielded cable (e.g. a VFD motor cable) must, per NEN-EN 50174-2, be terminated 360° around at both ends onto the PE/earthing rail, not via a thin "pigtail" wire, so the high-frequency interference current has a low-impedance path and the shielding functions effectively. A correctly earthed shield reduces both the interference radiated to other cables and the sensitivity of the conductor itself to external interference.
