Fire-Protection RCD (300 mA)
An RCD with a rated residual current of 300 mA that, per NEN 1010 §422.3, may be mandatory in installations in locations with an increased fire risk (e.g. straw or timber storage) to interrupt a sustained earth fault that could cause a fire. This serves a different purpose than the 30 mA RCD used for protection of persons against electric shock, and does not replace it — both may be needed in the same installation, at different levels.
Bij de hoofdvoeding van een houtbewerkingsloods met veel stof en spaanders wordt een 300 mA-aardlekschakelaar geplaatst als aanvullende brandbeveiliging, naast de reguliere 30 mA-aardlekschakelaars per groep.
Denken dat één 300 mA-aardlekschakelaar op de hoofdaansluiting voldoende aanrakingsbeveiliging biedt voor alle groepen — 300 mA is veel te hoog om een dodelijke lichaamsstroom snel genoeg te onderbreken; daarvoor blijft een 30 mA-aardlekschakelaar per groep noodzakelijk.
