Soil Resistivity (ρ)
A material property of the ground (expressed in Ω·m) indicating how strongly the soil resists current flow; together with the shape and dimensions of the earth electrode it determines the resulting earth spreading resistance Re. Usually measured with the Wenner four-point method and varies strongly with soil type, moisture content, and temperature — wet clay has a low ρ (good conductivity), dry sand or rock has a high ρ (poor conductivity).
