Detuned reactor (detuned filter)
A reactor placed in series with a capacitor bank to detune the compensation circuit away from the resonance frequencies caused by harmonics in the network. Without a detuned reactor, a capacitor bank can resonate with the network impedance at a specific harmonic (often the 5th), amplifying currents and voltages there instead of compensating them; the reactor shifts the circuit's tuning frequency to, for example, 134 Hz (p=7%) or 189 Hz (p=14%), well below the 5th harmonic (250 Hz).
Bij een bedrijfshal met veel frequentieregelaars wordt de condensatorbank voor arbeidsfactorcorrectie uitgevoerd met p=7%-ontstemde smoorspolen, om resonantie met de aanwezige 5e-harmonische te voorkomen.
Een standaard (niet-ontstemde) condensatorbank plaatsen in een installatie met veel niet-lineaire belasting (frequentieregelaars, LED-drivers) — dit kan resonantie versterken in plaats van de arbeidsfactor te verbeteren, met oververhitting en vroegtijdig falen van de condensatoren als gevolg.
